Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island called West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word tend to think there is a separate island west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to every aspect of Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is often known as the place where she was born. It is true that she stayed there for a short period of time. Brugel grew up in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. In her early years, she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was six feet and one inches tall. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting and in the instance of Brugel, it was the result of a recommendation from her high school teacher in drama. It was the teacher who recommended she go after a role in the school's annual production. The audition was successful and she was chosen in the role of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. Most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 and only appeared on occasion.
